Artist Bio

NARI is a Hungarian-Korean neurodivergent digital artist with a professional background in graphic design, styling, and prompt engineering.

Her path into art began after studying generative AI through Vanderbilt University, where she encountered Midjourney and recognized a medium in which her existing visual disciplines could converge. She began sharing her own work publicly in September 2025. Shortly afterward, The HUG invited her to join an artist roundtable on X Spaces—at a time when her audience numbered only eleven followers.

Within her first year as a publicly practicing artist, her work was selected for eight IRL exhibitions and showcases across the United States, Colombia, and the Netherlands, including two Beeple Studios–affiliated selections and The Canal Street Show Vol. 6 at Lume Studios in New York.

Artist Statement

NARI’s practice begins with a divided but continuous inheritance.

She is half Korean and half Hungarian, with Hungarian as her first language. Her relationship with Korean culture is therefore neither an outside fascination nor an unbroken native fluency. It is an inherited connection that she has been consciously returning to in adulthood through language, research, and image-making.

Art also runs through her family in two parallel currents. Her Korean mother played the violin; her Hungarian father directed short films. In the next generation, her daughter became a VFX supervisor and her son a musician. Across three generations, sound and image repeatedly separate, travel, and find one another again.

NARI works from the middle of this current.

Her images transform invisible relationships into physical materials: hair becomes thread, thread becomes river, ink becomes body, garments open into landscapes, and fractured surfaces reveal internal structures. Porcelain, paper, textile, metal, skin, and organic matter function not simply as aesthetic motifs, but as states through which memory and identity can pass.

Her earlier work often presented fracture directly through broken bodies, exposed interiors, and porcelain surfaces held together by visible seams. Her recent practice moves increasingly from fracture toward connection. Figures no longer only endure transformation; they braid, dance, carry, archive, and reshape what has passed through them.

Korean visual forms enter this work as part of a personal process of reconnection. Ink-wash, scrolls, garments, ritual objects, movement, repetition, and negative space provide structures through which NARI explores an inheritance received through family, but not fully through language. She does not attempt to illustrate Korea. She uses image-making to understand how Korean and Hungarian identity, distance and belonging, and inherited and chosen forms can coexist without erasing one another.

Neurodivergence shapes both her perception and her process: an intense sensitivity to patterns, systems, repetition, tactile surfaces, and connections that may remain invisible to others. Her compositions often make these hidden structures materially present.

For NARI, generative AI is not automation but a studio medium. She combines sustained iterative direction with the visual judgment developed through graphic design and styling, followed by detailed selection and hand-finishing. The process is one of authorship, refinement, failure, and precision.

At the center of her practice is a recurring question:

How can what has been separated remain connected—and what new form can be made from its strands?
